On behalf of the Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) I would like to welcome you to our website. I hope you find it useful and reflective of the warm spirit that exists at WAB. Our school is proud of the rich diversity of programs we offer to our almost 1,500 students and their families. We like to think there is a place for all at WAB. We pay particular attention to following procedures that guarantee a rich diversity in our WAB community. We hope that you will avail yourself of the opportunity to learn a great deal about our school by exploring the many areas of this website.
WAB is an IB World School offering the PYP, MYP and DP programs. High School students also have the option of pursuing a WAB diploma. In 2007, we graduated our first Grade 12 class. The majority of those graduates are now enrolled in university, while others, in the WAB spirit of creativity and service, have pursued other options before continuing their studies.
The WAB mission statement affirms that we strive to “Educate our children to reach their full potential in a warm and caring community that fosters excellence and responsibility.” In concert with the mission statement we ascribe to a set of five Core Values that guide our decision-making. These values are:
Learner Centered – designing learning processes so that each member of the WAB family is an inquiring, critical and purposeful learner
China Global Coherence – nurturing socially responsive global citizens bound together by China
Mosaic of Diversity – each person makes unique and irreplaceable contribution that combine to make the WAB family
Caring – by valuing and respecting our environment we nurture healthy relationships with responsibilities to self, family and world
WAB Spirit (Gong He) – with a spirit of commitment, enthusiasm and shared purpose each member of the WAB family contributes to the whole
At WAB, our education process is guided by three principles:

When one examines the rich offerings of programs offered throughout he school day and during non-school hours, it is easy to see that WAB pays close attention to its principles and Core Values. They are much more than statements. They truly do guide what we do at WAB.
WAB has a very strong sense of community spirit, which is held by students, parents and staff. The best way to experience WAB’s community spirit is to visit our lovely facility and interact with our staff, students and parents. We welcome visitors.
