Active Participants In The Learning Process

The Middle School Center and the HUB Sports, Arts and Technology Center provide excellent shared learning environments for both Middle and High School students, in which students are active participants in the learning process. Both facillities are purpose built to provide a warm, caring environment, enabling each student to stand out as an individual.

Our Middle School / High School staff are specifically trained in the area of adolescents and young adults, and are advocates to the needs of their students, are sensitive to their individual differences and respond positively to the diversity present.

An important component of our Middle School / High School program is the integration of community service and Chinese Culture. Community Service is done both in our school community and in the wider Beijing community. Our students will have many opportunities to study aspects of Chinese culture, including week long residential field trips to various areas of China.

These trips are very much an actualization of the WAB philosophy of integrating the academic program within the Chinese environment and of developing, "the intellectual, social and emotional, physical and aesthetic potential of each child."

Our Middle School High School Student Council promotes leadership for all students in a variety of areas. Their main focusses are: Student initiated activities and ideas; having a meaningful voice at WAB; contributing to WAB; contributing to China and developing further respect for China and Chinese culture, coordinating class fund raising efforts and organizing dances. They have been instrumental in starting a paper recycling scheme and give support to various charity events and educational activities within the school.

As part of the WABX Extracurricular Activities Program, there are many specific opportunities for Middle School / High School students to be involved in music, choir and drama productions, intramural and inter-school sporting competitions with other international schools and our Chinese Sister Schools.
