ADMISSIONS: Offering Places at WAB

Offering Places at WAB

Places at WAB are offered by the Admissions Committee. The Admissions Committee consists of a Principal, a Counselor, a Learning Support specialist, an ESOL specialist and an Admissions Officer.

For students applying for August entry, a limited number of available spaces are offered early in January-February-march, with the bulk of the offers made form April to June. However, WAB continues to offer places as they become available right up until the third week of August.

WAB does admit students during the school year, on a case by case basis, and as places become available.

WAB views applicants holistically when offering places. The Admissions Committee takes into account the profile of the grade applied for and, as directed by Board policy, places students so that diversity and balance within the school is maintained. In addition, and within the constraints of ESOL, learning support and class size limitations, WAB also takes into account (in no particular order)

• WAB Alumni: returning students are given some priority
• Siblings: siblings of students already enrolled in the school are given some priority
• Registration date: Students who apply early, or who have been waiting for a place for some time, may be given some priority
• Wait Pool Families: WAB seeks to admit whole families to the school. In the event of one member of a waiting pool family being offered a place, where possible and in the interests of keeping families together, we make a special effort to find places for remaining siblings
• Course Offerings (High School only): Offering places in the High School, particularly Grades 11 and 12, depends on the availability of suitable courses

Please note that users of the Capital Levy pre-Payment Scheme (CLPS) are given priority placement at WAB.
