Tune in to Trombonist Yang Ming & Friends at WAB Teatime Concert

Western Academy of Beijing is proud to invite you to an intimate musical experience on Friday, September 22.

Set in WAB's state-of-the-art Founders' Theatre, enoy a concert featuring world-renowned trombonist Yang Ming. Join us at 4pm for WAB's first Teatime Concert event of the school year. Admission is free.

Born in Beijing, China, Yang Ming began playing music at the age of five. Since then, he has studied and worked with some of the world's leading composers and musicians in the jazz, Cuban, reggae and funk genres.

Yang studied at Prince Claus Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory. He has played and learned from Conrad Herwig, Robin Eubanks, Steve Davis, Don Braden, Brian Lynch, Dena DeRose, Ralph Peterson and David Berkman. Notable performances include the North Sea and Pergia Jazz Festivals. He recorded an album with trumpeter Alex Sipiagin in 2009.

Since returning to Beijing in 2008, he created the Eastern Quartet and the contemporary salsa band The People's Republic of Clave. He is a teacher of at Beijing Contemporary Music Academy and runs the school's big band.
