Summary of Benefits
WAB provides a comprehensive benefits package to our teachers. Both
Local Foreign Hire and Overseas Foreign Hire Teachers receive
the following benefits when working at WAB:

Benefits For All Foreign Hire Teachers
Chinese Income Taxes Benefit
The school will cover all Chinese income taxes on WAB derived income (salary
quoted is net of Chinese Income Taxes).
Pension/Retirement Plan
All full time (0.5
FTE and above) teachers is eligible for the School's pension
benefit. The School will match your contribution to the pension
plan up to 6% of the contracted annual net salary.
Visa, Residence Permit and Foreign Expert Card
It is the requirement of the school that all teachers and
their dependents hold valid and current relevant Chinese
documentation (Visa/Residence Permit). If these are not
granted by the Chinese government for whatever reasons,
then the offer of employment will automatically be terminated.
The school takes responsibility for the processing and cost
of Visa/Residence Permit and Foreigner Expert Card for teacher
and their legal and contractual dependents. The school may
assist with requests for applications for non-contractual
dependents, at the personal expense of the employee. The
cost of visa application excludes cost of agent, transportation
or accommodation which will be at the staff’s personal
expense.
Health Insurance
The school provides the employee and contractual dependents
a comprehensive health insurance that covers medical outpatient,
hospitalization, dental and emergency medical evacuation
with an international coverage.
Personal Accident and Disability Insurance
The school also provides accidental death and disability
insurance.
Professional Development
WAB believes that Professional Development of its staff is
an integral part of ensuring the quality of the education
program delivered to all students. Approved Professional
Development at WAB is available to all teachers in order
to improve teaching and learning in the school.
School Fees - Dependent's Tuition Support
For Overseas Foreign Hire Teachers, WAB provides your legally and contractually
dependent student studying at WAB with tuition, capital levy and bus fees.
For Local Foreign Hire Teachers, WAB provides tuition support
to eligible the “independent teacher” on a case-by-case
basis. It will include tuition and capital levy fee, but
excludes bus fee, PE kit and other miscellaneous expenses. An “independent
teacher” refers to a teacher who is:
- Single with no partner, and only supported by WAB or;
- A part of a couple in which the partner is unemployed
and totally reliant on the teacher or;
- A part of a couple in which the partner is self-employed
but unable to provide significant support to the family
or;
- A part of a couple in which the partner's sponsoring
organization does not or is unable to provide significant
support to the family.
General Travel Allowance
A non-cash travel benefit will be provided, which can be
used for reimbursement of travels related expenses; including
airfare, accommodation, car rental, etc. The amount of
the allowance is based on the contractual salary scale.
Additional Benefits For Overseas Foreign
Hire Teachers
Relocation Airfare
WAB provides one-way airfare for each teacher and accompanying contracted dependent
for relocation to Beijing, and one-way airfare after the fulfillment of the
initial 2-year contract. The School will determine the value of the airfare
in accordance with its standard procedures.
Shipping Charges and Insurance
WAB will cover shipping charges and its insurance for the
sea transportation of personal effects up to the contractual
limit. Charges that exceed the limit will be at the personal
expense of the teacher.
WAB will also cover repatriation shipping charges and insurance
after the Overseas Foreign Hire Teacher has fulfilled the
contract and decides to return to home country or relocate
to another country.
Housing
The school provides accommodation for Overseas Foreign Hire
Teachers in a serviced apartment with basic furnishings,
within the allocated budget according to the contract status. Teachers
also have the option of renting properties of their choice.
A teacher who rents a property that exceeds their housing
allowance will be responsible for the excess amount. The
housing allowance allocated to teachers is based on the
contract status as follows:

Settling In Allowance
A US$200 (1540RMB) allowance will be provided for each Overseas Foreign Hire Teacher upon
arrival in Beijing to assist in meeting immediate relocation expenses, such
as purchasing needed goods in Beijing.
R&R Travel Allowance
The Overseas Foreign Hire Teacher is provided with a non-cash allowance benefit that can only be used for travel related expenses.
