Early Childhood Program
Introduction
The Early years of a child’s formal education are of great importance. It is during this period of time that children enter the social world beyond their family and establish themselves as members of a community of their peers. It is in these years that children will form conceptions of themselves as social beings, as thinkers and as language users. They will also reach important decisions about their own abilities and worth.
What We do - Our Program
Our teaching programs and curriculum at WAB give our students the chance to grow from their discoveries and experiences. Through the implementation of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IBPYP), student learning takes place in relevant contexts where clear goals and expectations are discussed and negotiated, in order to engage and guide students as active participants. Learning through activities and meaningful tasks using and inquiry-based approach requires our students to think, reflect, apply, analyze, problem-solve and evaluate.
Who We are - Our Teachers
Our teachers in the ECC make a special contribution to each child’s education and their unique understanding of the world in which they live. Our teachers are hired for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to students. Teachers are constantly striving to improve and provide the best education for all students at WAB.
We also recognize that parents and other adults who care for a child are the child’s first educator and significantly influence their child’s learning. All children arrive at school with a variety of complex skills, attitudes, values and information already acquired.
It is with this in mind that Early Childhood educators here at WAB work together with a common understanding about learning, teaching and child development to provide a welcoming, positive school experience for our Early Childhood students.
