Middle School students are enrolled in all courses at the same
grade level (either Grade 6, 7, or 8). To meet individual student
needs, class work will be differentiated as appropriate.
Where a specific learning difficulty has been verified and documented,
a student may be placed on an Individual Educational Plan (IEP)
and will receive support from the Learning Teacher as appropriate.
Questions on retention for any reason (e.g. extensive student absence,
developmental delays) will only be considered on a case by case
basis, in consultation with the child’s parents and the Student
Study Team (Middle School Principal, Assistant Principal, Counselor, Teachers and Learning
Support Teacher). Only in exceptional cases will retention or additional
grade advancement be considered.
In Grade 6, 7, and 8, all promotion is done by grade level.
