Grade 5 Field Trip to 798 Space: March 9, 2007

Grade 5 classes admired a new exhibit of female Terra-cotta Warrior statues at the 798 Space at the heart of the Dashanzi Art District this week. In this exhibit, the Norwegian artist Marian Heyerdahl has recontextualized the Terra-cotta Warriors by duplicating female versions of their originally sized male counterparts. The students, many of whom have traveled to Xi’an to see the ancient warriors, enjoyed the exhibit, finding it humorous, powerful and a good conversation piece, especially around International Woman’s Day.
