Pedestrian Crossing Lights Installed
The new Pedestrian Crossing Lights at WAB will greatly enhance
safety for pedestrians on what is becoming an increasingly
busy road. Crossing guards will continue to supervise the
crossing during peak times. The lights cost US$17,000 and
were funded by the school and a special donation. We thank
Mr. Guo, Madam Jie and their daughter Kathryn from Grade 4
for their very generous donation of RMB 85,300 which went
towards the crossing lights ‘camera’ – which
we hope will help remind drivers to respond correctly to the
crossing. |

Aquatics
Program continues to Grow
This year WAB’s Swimming Program has continued to grow
thanks to the support of our PE teachers, especially Allison
who has been training our MSHS swim team three mornings each
week. WAB will participate in its first international swim
meet with students traveling to Seoul Foreign School in Korea.
Next year swimming will get an even greater focus in the
school curricular and extra curricular program with the appointment
of our own full time swimming teacher and coach. We welcome
Lali Jochmann to our faculty from the Singapore American School.
Lali is from Switzerland and brings a wealth of experience
which includes being a member of the Swiss National Swim Team,
Swiss Champion in 50m breaststroke, 2nd Place in 100m breaststroke
and participant in the FINA Swimming World Cup. |

Waitlist
Pressure Grows
Enrolment wait lists have become the ‘usual’
at WAB since 2002, but rose to a record high of 350 students
last month. Admissions Manager, JB Terrins predicts that this
could rise to 450 or 500. With enrolment at 1013 students
and at 100% for Grades PreK - 10 and the current strong demand,
these places are expected to fill quickly. It is encouraged
that new applications be made as early as possible. |
