Welcome to the WAB Elementary School!
The focus of our program is a commitment to structured inquiry as the main vehicle for learning.
At WAB Elementary School, we give our students the chance to grow through their discoveries and experiences. This is accomplished through the Primary Years Programme (PYP) where student learning takes place in relevant real-world contexts. Clear goals and expectations are discussed and negotiated with students so that they are active participants in their own learning. Responsibility for learning outcomes is shared between students and teachers, and this results in increased motivation and commitment from students.
WAB holds a special place in our students' lives. Time and again we hear from students who have left, telling of how their time at WAB shaped them as people. As well as making friends from all over the world, they learn that people have different needs, values, cultures and beliefs and to respect these differences. We are confident that students educated in our international setting will gain the knowledge, skills and understanding to contribute positively to their future communities.
A warm and open environment in the elementary classes encourages the involvement of parents to share and participate in the formative years of their child's education.
Field trips help the students to appreciate the richness and diversity of our host country China – examples include a visit to the Lama Temple or a visit to an international television company in Beijing. We take full advantages of the local area's cultural and natural resources.
Regular assemblies and concerts throughout the year give students opportunities to perform in front of an audience. An extensive After School Activities program allows students to explore their passions and interests and extend their learning beyond the classroom.
WAB has a combination of incredible teachers and resources, in addition to an expectation of excellence from a child, in risk-taking and performing to the best of their ability, and the visible and voluble acknowledgment of their achievements. These have all encouraged self-confidence and self-motivation in my child and an enhanced expectation of himself in all areas. This will serve him well as he continues in his education and further in life to set his expectations high with a give-it-go attitude.

With WAB my child feels confident about himself and his abilities, he learns how to communicate in a better way and how to express his thoughts. They learn to respect not only their teachers but also their mates, other WAB employees, the environment, other societies and to love nature.

I like how WAB tries to make learning fun, how nice the teachers are, how they teach, how people at WAB solve problems, how friendly the people are, and the equipment and areas like the playgrounds, the library, environmental grounds like the maze and the secret garden. I also like when we do special things like assemblies and adventure challenge day.

1) We love playing with friends from all around the world. 2) We really enjoy going to PE because we get to do exercise and lots of fun activities. 3) ASAs are great fun because you get to learn how to do different things with other friends and we get to make new friends. 4) We love to sing, laugh and clap when everyone's together at our assemblies. 5) We like learning Chinese because it's good to learn another language. 6) It's great going to our language lessons. We get to practice our own language.
