WAB Wild

WAB Wild is the Outdoor Education department at WAB. Established in 2006 WAB Wild runs more than 20 experiential outdoor expeditions and day trips each year. WAB Wild offers the following programs to WAB students:

  • Outdoor Education from Grades 6 – 8 as a part of the MYP HPE curriculum. Through this 3-year program students gain competencies in navigation, radio communication, first aid, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing & abseiling.
  • Two key components of The International Youth Award (formerly the Duke of Edinburgh award) that is offered in the High School.
  • Grade 5 Transition camp where the focus is on helping students to ‘Step Up & Out’ and make the transition from Elementary School to Middle School as smoothly as possible. This is a team-orientated camp with challenges targeted to help students gain a better understanding of balance in Nature and themselves.

WAB Wild has a very strong environmental focus in all its programs, and this challenges students to think and reflect on how we interact with the environment. We use the fact that the program takes place in the wilderness to pose environmental challenges and heighten student’s awareness of the global issues that the planet faces.

WAB Wild also facilitates extra-curricular experiences that foster personal growth and leadership and encourage lifelong participation in adventurous and physical activity.
