APAC STATEMENT OF SPORTSMANSHIP

The Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) is committed to providing a platform for students from the member schools to participate in an environment that is safe, challenging, educational and most importantly enjoyable. Each student athlete is given the opportunity to demonstrate her/his talents while maintaining a spirit of respect and co-operation with fellow athletes from other international schools and different cultural backgrounds.

Every APAC event involves students and adults in their different roles as participants, athletes, coaches, teachers, parents, officials and spectators. All those involved in the event are expected to uphold the same spirit of respect and co-operation throughout. This spirit is demonstrated by fair play and consideration amongst all athletes, positive encouragement from coaches, impartial judgments from officials and respectful enthusiasm from spectators. The behavior of teachers, coaches and parents is crucial to the success of any APAC event and the wider educational ramifications for the students involved.

APAC embraces wholeheartedly the value of sportsmanship and what it brings to any of it’s events. As an organization APAC clearly understands that in order for good sportsmanship to prevail teachers, coaches, student participants and athletes must display and practice respect, fairness, civility, honesty and responsibility before, during and after all APAC events and tournaments.

Spectators where appropriate are encouraged to support their team and participants and to recognize the contribution of all. Therefore profanity, deliberately making noises that distract and interfere with the performance of a competing athlete, the condemnation of coaches or officials, or any behavior that is disrespectful or degrading to the APAC standard of sportsmanship, jeopardizes the purposes of the APAC organization and, most of all, jeopardizes the quality of the experience for the students participating.

As this event progresses we ask that all of our parents, coaches, officials and athletes keep this vision of our purpose in mind.
