Jessica says that before applying to University it is vital to do your research well and if possible to visit the campuses. Make sure you apply to somewhere you are going to enjoy living, look carefully into the different campus/off campus styles, the number of international students and what kind of student usually attends this college. And remember, while there seems to be an obligation to go to University there are other options out there.

The small campus feeling and the size of St Andrews has been the right decision for Jessica. She chose to live in catered halls where she has made many new friends, though mostly English, Chinese or international students like herself. Jessica advises that when you start University it is a great opportunity to jump in to something new. There are many clubs and societies, open to everyone to join. She is a member of the Chinese Society, building on her links with China.
