Smiling students, parents, and staff were surprised to see a tiger at our school's iconic red gates on the first day of school.
Our WAB Tiger mascot joined WAB's new Director, Marta Medved Krajonvic, and other faculty and staff to welcome families to campus for the start of the 2018-19 school year.
The school was buzzing, as students reunited with their friends for the first time after the summer holidays and were filled with the excitement of a new year full of possibilities ahead.
Prior to the first day of school, WAB welcomed new families at orientation days designed for students and their parents to explore the school, meet teachers and administrators, and settle into their new surroundings. In one of WAB's favorite and oldest traditions, returning Elementary School students visited the orientation to meet new friends and teachers at an ice cream social.
As our community moves into the first few weeks of school, there are a variety of events and activities to which our families are invited. They include back-to-school evenings, welcome coffees, teaching and learning workshops designed for parents, student-led assemblies, arts and athletics activities, Distinguished Speaker Series events, and, of course, the annual WAB Community Picnic.
The Community Picnic, themed Future Adventures at WAB, welcomes all WAB families and the wider community to Tiger Field to enjoy games, local food vendors, and exceptional student-led entertainment. The picnic is a perfect way to bring the community together to celebrate the start of the school year. See you there on Saturday, August 25, from 10am-1pm.
