Inspirational Students: WAB's TEDx Event Goes Virtual May 9

Join an inspiring group of international students from Beijing on May 9, as they host WAB's first ever virtual TEDx event.

Students from Western Academy of Beijing and several other international schools in the city will present "ideas worth sharing." There will be a diverse range of topics covered, including how to use occupational psychology in order to improve the efficiency of group work and how artificial intelligence will influence our economies in the future.

Originally planned as a live event on WAB's campus, the team of student organizers re-designed the TEDx event to fit our current online context. Beginning with a video conference at 9pm Beijing time on May 9, each student presenter will give a brief 2-minute synopsis of their full presentation. At the end, organizers will provide a link to the event's website where audience members can visit to watch full complete versions of each student's presentation.

"On top of wanting to empower students to share their ideas and thoughts, we also want to show how, collaboratively, we can overcome challenge," said Katarina K., who is organizing and hosting the event as MC. "We felt that this was a way in which we, as well as students in schools outside of WAB, could demonstrate a different, and louder voice."
