Our school has always welcomed parents to be on campus and take active roles in the community and in education.
Just this week, there were six school events throughout the sections designed for parents – covering issues like body safety, technology usage, and The Future of Learning at WAB. Walking through the campus this week, one would have seen parents working together in the Lotus Lounge, singing in the HUB’s Parent Lounge, and meeting with teachers.
“We know students and our school community benefit when parents are involved in learning and community events,” Elementary School Assistant Principal Nat Atherton said after a Body Safe workshop Thursday morning. “That is why we host several events throughout the school year for parents. We want them to understand and engage with our research-based approaches to teaching and learning, holistic development, and social-emotional well-being.”
Parent events at WAB regularly include presentations from experts, members of the administration teams, faculty specialists, students, as well as social and volunteer opportunities. It’s part of what makes us #uniquelyWAB: Everyone at our school is a welcomed, valued, contributing member of the community.
Several workshops are coming up, both for specific age groups and for the entire community. You can find more detailed information about the events using the links below and find all of our parent events on the Parent Portal calendar. Moreover, parents are always welcome to make appointments to meet with teachers and administrators,
- This week, we launched a month-long series of events for parents to learn about FLoW21 philosophies and implementation in each school section.
- There are several events covering personal, social, academic, and emotional learning as part of the Elementary School’s Parents as Learners workshops.
- Our High School is regularly hosting visits from universities.
- Parents can support our sports and activities by cheering on the players or volunteering with Tiger Spirit Link. Next weekend, WAB’s boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will compete in the Tiger 7s at home.
We’d like to thank all WAB parents for the commitment, dedication, and care you put into supporting your children’s school experience and creating a special community experience.
