Target 11 in Action: Real-world, Connected, Practical Learning

As we discussed in our most recent post, Target 11 aims to make the curriculum real for students.

We want to raise the stakes, create impactful learning experiences, and help students connect their curriculum to the "real world" outside of school.

This already happens at WAB in many ways, and we are seeking more opportunities to promote this type of connected, practical learning for students.

For example, Grade 10 students participate in World of Work, a week-long internship experience where they are paired with local and global companies that are related to their strengths and interests. In both Kindergarten and Grade 5, students build a business and are in charge of market research, advertising, and operations.

Looking ahead, our FLoW21 Host Country Engagement Committee is building a database and network of connections to promote the goals of Target 11. Their aim is to partner with these people, companies, and organizations to find ways for our students to work with and learn from them. If you are interested in contributing to this work, please contact the head of WAB's China Studies Department, Ms. Wang Wenjing.
